Smooth Metal Tutorial
1. Open a new document that is 200 x 200 pixels or size of your choosing.
2. If you haven't already got a shape you want to use this effect on you can create one.
I have used the elliptical marquee tool to create the below example. Once you have created your shape fill it in with the color #DDDDDD. Press CTRL+D to deselect your shape.
3. Now to add the layer styles. Go to Layer>Layer Styles>Blending Options and click on the Inner Glow box and change the settings to these :
4. In the Blending options menu click on the Inner Shadow box (Layer>Layer Styles>Inner Shadow) and change the settings to these:
5. In the Blending Options menu click on the stroke box (Layer>Layer Styles>Stroke) and change the settings to these:
6. In the Blending Options menu click on the satin box (Layer>Layer Styles>Satin) and change the settings to these:
7. Finally click on the Gradient Overlay box in the Blending options menu (Layer>Layer Styles>Gradient Overlay) and change the settings to these:
8. If you would like to save this style for future use simply click in the top left hand corner where it says styles in the blending options menu. Now click on the New Style button and pick a name for your new style e.g Smooth metal. Now click on the arrow icon to the left and select "save styles" from the menu. The smooth metal effect is now complete.
