so, think, you have a kinda slow pc + slow connection = not to professional...
that's why i prefer not to use flash (and the fact that i can't seem to figure out macromedia flash ) |

If you want an example of professionalism have a look at the shrinkkseal website which was done in flash - link is posted on the forums in portfolio. I get what you are saying bout slow connections, but what you have to remember is that most of our clients are on fast connections, it is only for us forum/community junkies that would really have slow connections - this is just a generalisation. Anyway, if it annoys you that much just bookmark BluePearl directly to the forums so you dont have to see it. Thanks for your input anyway. Sorry for the essay, just trying to make a point. lol |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Bluepearl Business/shop Well thats your problem, a pc that takes 12 seconds to post a message using msn is not worth talking about.

Rep Power: 9 | Re: Bluepearl Business/shop second one, i tought of yesterday 56K modem =/= 56KB/s but is 56Kb/s
you do know the diff between KB and Kb i guess...
so 56KB/s => 7KB/s MAXIMUM! mosty it only gets to 5KB/s
so, if you say 1 flashfile is 100KB, it would take some time to load... (50 secs)
and even longer since you have 2 files.
now you get my second point
(i must say, first time i got a good argument, i won't back off that easilly, lol )
i know, it's wasting time again, but if you want to do it gooed, just put the text-link or an image link at the bottom...
thanks for ur understanding.. lol |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Bluepearl Business/shop Thanks for the tutorial i will think about adding it to the tutorial thread.....
I am fully aware of bits and bytes, i wouldnt be much of a web designer if i didnt.
First of all the filesize combined is 100kb, and the flash is using pre-loaders so the visitor is fully aware of how long the page will take to load.
The chance of getting a 56k modem to load at 7kb/s is very rare, the max u will get is 5kb/s, even so 3 minutes to load 100kb is just bs and if your pc is having drama's leave it out of my thread.
You had one good poiint about having the option to skip the flash, but seeings as this site overall is not dialup friendly unless your using the bo20 theme visitors will find this site slow. You see your whole point is about loading the homepage faster, but seeings how this site in general is big then there is no point.
If i wanted a site that looked like the other 10,000,000 sites on the net i would have made it small and boring, but seeing show i want a unique online presence i put alot of effort into making the site fit for the 21st century.
Broadband connections r getting cheaper and very soon everyone on the next will be using fast connections.
Like Kitty said, if it bothers u that much bookmark the community.
But its strange how community page in total is 300kb+ ..... u dont whinge about that loading slow... even though u have 800+ posts.
If u want to argue with me about this do it on MSN or via PM.
This thread is a announcment about my shop being finished not about your pc problems. |
