Help with "guest" users

First of all nice forums, I posted something late yesterday so probably did not make the transition.

Anyways I need to know how to ban a IP Range example: xxx.yyy.zz.aa
Would I just put in xxx.yyy.*.*

and I would like to know how to make it so that everyone has to register in order to put up a post.

Well not necessarily.


in the Ban Control page it states this.

IP addresses or hostnames: 
To specify several different IP addresses or hostnames separate them with commas. To specify a range of IP addresses, separate the start and end with a hyphen (-); to specify a wildcard, use an asterisk (*).

So I am just trying to verify that I can do a range and it does not have to be site specific.


Also still looking for info on "guest" users being able to post on the forum.

Thanks for reminding me Dog i need to change those permissions.

Also to ban an IP range just enter the first 2 like this XXX.XXX but i dont recommend it u r banning the whole IP range which means u r banning for than 1 person.

I am also looking how to change those permissions on allowing "guests" to post. I want them to have to register in order to post.
Do you know how to do that?

To get the understanding of why I wanted the range is due to the fact that some people use routers and can change there IP.
Well the last digits anyway.

So they may have xxx.xxx.xx.yy

I can ban that single IP but they they will just change it to xxx.xxx.xx.zz
then they are back in again.

So I will just ban the range and take care of that problem -

Ban IP xxx.xxx.xx.*

and bam he cant come no more

Anyways just in case other folks have that problem.
