Modding querie

Hi guys,

(long post afoot )
I have a flash made webby for my goldeneye:source clan, im making it presently, but forums im not any good at, i dont know how to make a forum style and rather not bust my ass on that with all these resources out there , so ive been looking around for templates that would suit..and its been hard

But, i stumbled on this one, and you guys seem so nice and interactive its refreshing!

The only thing is, i matched it up to color scheme of my site and it just doesnt.

Two things..

1) can i/am i allowed to, change the colors of certain areas (that arent images) in like some setting file?

2) do you guys have issue with someone heavily modding the images/changing them out to suit themes of their own?

i had this idea for you, a little compromise, if you normally dont allow such things (ill leave that for a PM/email, after you respond)

P.S .. im also having problems enabling the style as it is in my webspace, subsilver loads, then i change to your one, and it doesnt, im pretty certain i did it right, ive got other forums with modded styles on. If you could explain or direct me to a step by step install guide for your style, would be nice

1) yes you may, anything goes aslong as the copyright is still in there.
-> find .css files those contain the stylesheets (so colors that aren't images)

i may be re-doing the website for a clan i know so i am familiarising myself with there setup. one fo the things that stands out is that onc eon the forums you cant link back. i am going to sort this by including the forum in an iframe with the links and etc above. when doing this it shrinks the forums down a bit. it still looks ok its just that its a bit small. any way i can remove the border image so that the main bit of the forum sits flush with the iframe?

i am looking myself but cant seem to find the folder telling it to create that background. surly if i remove the background tags(if its html) it will just slide across.

ok i found it. when i remove the bottom one though it removes your name from the template. presumably you want it there. so is there any smaller image that matches the clanz darkeness theme i can put in otherwise ill just leave the bottom bit on.

you could just modify the overall_header and overall_footer to wrap the site arround the forum, this is better if the site is able to stretch imho.
iframes suck


i think a text-version of the copyright would suffice.
it's also better for search engines.

ok i put it in an iframe... which goes into a table using require(). but when i click the login link and then log in the forum take up the whole page n kicks the exteranl table parts out. i would edit the files for it but i dont know what im looking for... help plz lol

it sint on the web yet basically i have a big table. the top part is basic site stuff such as title logo etc. left is link and right is a list of public servers. imbetween the left and right parts there is a space avaiklable for other content that come from a require() and using the links. in the content bit i want to get the forum but i dont knwo how to do this. i ussed the require to get to a page displaying and iframe and then iframe getting the forum. how ever when i login using the login page once login is clicked the page enlarges and basically makes the other content disappear. no links on left no headers no server on rite.

ok here is the zip inside is 3 bmp files one of the forum in the page. one of the login page then the next bit is what happens once i click login. see what i mean now?
please ignore the css i just did it as an idea that will probably not be published like that. although if i do want to keep it i will ask first.


also while im here. the site i am doing also wants to try and have the login bit on the homepage. for instance login to check PM's, login , you have # pms etc. i know it appears on the index page but i cant actually find the code needed to do this. i know its going to involve a lot of session work but it would be a lot easier if i could even find where this text is. then hopefully it would be a simple copy and paste and a session reader thingy. if that makes sense.

I would say it's because you didn't edit it properly.

You need to edit the template files.

overall_header.tpl and overall_footer.tpl

the rest of the templates can be explained by sean, i'm not really fermilliar with that.

thinking about it i dont think it is the template. i think it must be phpbb itself. i have modified the overall templates correctly it just this one link thats annoying. i have asked phpbb forums but got no reply as of yet.
