Colors Are Messed Up!

Hi again,

It's been awhile. Recently I updated our forums from phpbb 2.0.11 to 2.0.18. A few days ago I noticed the colors are a bit messed up. I have gone over some of the code, but, not being that well versed, I was unable to fix the problem. I believe I encountered this problem once before when I was originally modding a clean forum and fixed it, but I don't remember what or how.

As you can see surrounding the flash image, down the left side, and on the bottom left the coloring is purple. It has also made the rest of the header and footer look splotchy.

Hopefully you can point me in the right direction.

It looks like u r compressing your JPG image too much, try using High settings in your Graphic program

I haven't made any changes to my images for a long time so I don't think that's the problem.

Well the left side i cant see any problems with, but on the right i can see alot of distortion caused by over compression.

Okay that is the splotchy I was talking about. And where your arrow points is the end of the purple I mentioned.

The images were not that splotchy before the updates. What could I have changed in the coding to have caused it?

not in the coding, but you saved the jpg file with the wrong quality when you edited it.

simply re-edit (or re-save) the file with a higher quality and it should sort itself out.

This isn't helping me. Maybe you need to turn up your brightness a little or something. It is not just the splotchy pics which have not looked like this until after the updates.

I'm sorry, but the compression is not the issue here. I understand why you think it is. The forums have looked just fine for several months. It wasn't until I did the updates that it looked like this. There is something in one of the files that were changed during my updates. Can you point me in the direction of what file would have changed the top, bottom and left side?

Again, I haven't touched the images during updating or after so how can that be the problem? Why the sudden change if it isn't something in the coding?

did you edit something in the code? like a filename or so?

I only did what the updates told me. I did all but the 2.0.18 update manually. I used EasyMOD for the last update as that was the recommendation in the txt. After the last update, it had messed up my menu across the middle. I went back and fixed it. I didn't notice at that time any coloration problems, but that doesn't mean they weren't there. I was in a hurry at the time. My assumption would be that that was indeed when the problem started.

I have gone through the overall_header and everything looks to be in order. I have undone the changes from 2.0.18 in the header also, and that had no effect.

Could it possibly be something outside of the template itself? The only backups I have are from 2.0.11 and just before 2.0.18. If I put up the 2.0.11 backups for just the template and redo the updates to 2.0.18 should that resolve it? Or, do I have to redo all of the updates for the whole forum? I would prefer to fix it outside of the backups, but I'm not seeing that option as a possibility.

Can you let me know what backups to go to, template or full?

Okay..this is what I am seeing on my screen. If you open the attachment, I numbered the different spots I'm talking about.

#1 Splotchy image that looks 10 times worse than it used to

#2 Purple area that used to be the same as the background color in #5

#3 More purple that used to be the same color as #4

I hope you can now see what I'm talking about. In the attached picture Sean posted it is hard to see it. Hopefully you'll be able to see the differences.
