aw, thanks Kate! That means a lot coming from you. It's done with a combination of a clipart of painted roses, brushes, and overlays of color and such to create light, etc. I 'withered' the roses with a pumpkin-like color to give it that slightly withered look, and set that layer to overlay, then decreased the opacity.
I did something similar to this, but made the roses purple and 'rusty.'
My friend decided she wanted 'flames,' rather than smoke. Soooo.. I re-did things a bit, and now her roses are burning.

A bit of history about the image: "Rose" is a friend who recently dated and fell in love with a fireman. Something in his life drastically changed and he told Rose he had to focus on that, rather than their relationship. She was completely crushed, of course.
when she told me she needed a new bg I said okay. Her only specifications is, as always, roses and butterflies.. or in this case, a moth (which I snuck in instead of a butterfly. lol).
Roses, fire, moth to flame.... well, I think she's happy with it.

Now let's hope she likes the flames.
Again, thanks for the feedback and kind comments!.. means a lot to me to hear it from you guys.
