[phpBB] Step-By-Step Instructions to creating a new template

link is temporary broken. here is short version of that manual (in follwing document use your template name instead of "YourTemplate"). i will remove it when link above will be working again:

1. Copy your templates/subSilver/ directory to templates/YourTemplate/ including all subdirectories.

2. In all .tpl files inside templates/YourTemplate/ replace all instances of "subSilver" with "YourTemplate". You can do that in any text editor with search/replace feature. Make sure that "YourTemplate" is exactly the same as your directory name. It is case-sensitive, so "YourTemplate" and "yourtemplate" are different names.

3. Rename subSilver.cfg and subSilver.css to YourTemplate.cfg and YourTemplate.css

4. Open theme_info.cfg and replace all "subSilver" with "YourTemplate" (including all $subSilver[0]... with $YourTemplate[0])

5. Save all modified files. You've got yourself a new template. Now you can install it in admin control panel (this document will help you) and edit colors in admin control panel and edit tpl files.

Notes:

1. New template name cannot contain any spaces or dashes in directory name - otherwise it will cause errors and won't install.

2. Template name is case-sensitive. Make sure that YourTemplate inside .tpl files and theme_info.cfg and in filenames of .cfg and .css files are exactly the same as directory name.

I take it this is what we're suppose to be doing for the ClanzDarkness2 release in phpbb; Changing the sub-silver to whatever name we decide to attach, cause it sure isn't working the other way...

OH!! I can see it!!! but the top is mirrored(?). ....and no, I didn't mess w/it, couldn't even get to it; got that error one more time, n went to my module to work in it after leaving message here for Sean.

Well.. I did go read some at phpbb, but without access to the forums site, couldn't do much else. Jimmyed around a bit w/ my FTP program, but didn't understand that either.

Can we fix the top? I thought I had it big enough to spread across. Guess I'll have to figure that out for myself, huh. Dunno how I'm going to do that though if I can't get into the main folder. Egads.... ya got me.

Oh ya, and avatars, ect.. it won't let you add, or is this just a tut site that is for show only?

It wasn't a repeat.... it should've gone all the way across.. and it can be resized in photoshop. It went across in my trial template in yahoositebuilder, but you can stretch n stuff n there. Also, it should have been a but farther down (expanded). I'll work on it.. but need to know the dimensions; double width and add a bit to depth (?).

if im not mistaken the top is 1280x135 so if the image doesnt fit change the size in photoshop to 1280 across an keep the aspect ratieo of the picture
also i seen you forgot to change the side1_gif on your forum

ya.. I know how to do that, but it still screws up the pic real bad.. its too elongated or if on side, too short... I've got what I want now, kinda.. couldn't use that pic of the frozen/desert you had posted due to it's size.

I've just spent bout 6 hrs editing my top pic and still not happy with either. No matter, they've got to be better than what I had b4.

the width of the pic has to be massive to stop it from repeating itself (or like you call it, mirroring)
