Question THANKS !!

Thanks for the warm welcome !
I had a question regarding these online 'schools' that advertise courses for $30/mo. I'm in dire need of PHP, MySql, and other vbulletin and Linux/Unix related training. Are any of these places worth considering ?? Or does anyone know of any reputable schools or learning facilities that offer this kind of training ?
Anyway suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Re: Great Site !

Hey Gooze,
Do u have any links to these courses?

Ive always learnt by buying books in the shops, ive read books online but i believe the good old hard copy cant be beaten.

Everything i have learnt so far about web design has been by teaching myself with books, but u need to be able to concentrate harder as not being able to ask a teacher for help can sometimes be abit harder.

Post Great Site, But a little OT Here :)!

Yes Sean, I can list 4 of them:
================================================== ======
Real World PHP Programming: The Basics Tutorials, Online Real World PHP Programming: The Basics Video Tutorials

Setting Up MySQL 5 for PHP in Windows - lynda.com Online Training Library®

PHP Training

Online Tutorial MySQL Training Courses Tutorials
================================================== =======

But, I seem to be inclined very much as you are. A loooong time ago, I studied on my own and received my CNE (when that meant something !). And I seem to have noticed another post where you all were discussing books and I saw where there was a specific one you preferred for CSS.
Actually, I've learned almost everything on my own. I do have a CS degree, from '84, but that just gives me a background and experience to build on. There's not much Fortran or Pascal programming going on now .
That was actually the second part of my question; if the online resources weren't worth bothering with, what books would be recommended for PHP, MySql, CSS, XHTML, and several other areas.
I have a pretty good background in Linux/Unix, and of course, MSFT based OS's.
I'd just like to be able to actually do a lot of this stuff. I know there are some brilliant coders around, but this is also not "rocket science".
Thanks. I may need to move this or start the thread somewhere else.
JFYI, which I'm sure you're very much aware of, there are also many good FREE tutorials on line !!

Re: Great Site !

PHP is one of the easiest languages to pick up if you ask me.

Been playing arround with it for a few years now..
took me about .. 2 hours to get the hang of it
(but ofcourse that wasn't anywhere near the level I code at now..)
