Rep Power: 5 | Flash MX Frustration I'm not very good at Flash, to put it mildly, but I'm having some problems that I can't quite figure out the answer to.. no matter what I do.
I'm trying to create an animated text movie clip. I tried figuring out how to do this with one letter at a time---and gave up. Then I tried to do this one sentence at a time---and gave up.
I've no idea what to do to animate the letters separately, but I can't even turn a sentence into a graphic symbol and fade it in or out. It wont work, which is weird, because I've done this before and never had a problem. Even in this particular movie... until now. And with Flash 5 I didn't have any problems with a text graphic fade. Dang..
any idea what's going wrong? |

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Flash MX Frustration For ultra simple stuff I'm okay, but this new frustration is bugging the heck out of me because I can't figure out WHY the fades are tweening. |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Flash MX Frustration r u creating the tween before or after u create a keyframe?
I using creating my first keyframe, then create the tween which leaves a long ---- line in the timeline, and then create the last keyframe.
After this i select the keyframe that needs to be faded and i have no problems. |

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Flash MX Frustration I tried it both ways. I never had any trouble with Flash 5, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. one time it'll work, and the next... nada.
Also, I've noticed that something else happens, too.... a layer with an animation on it wont show at all in the movie. Here's basically what I did:
Created text
converted text to symbol (graphic)
animated text (fade, move, transform, fade at the end of the timeline)
...but nothing on that layer shows up in the movie when I test or preview. But I can see it if I move through the timeline manually while viewing what's on the stage. I also made sure there were no 'stop' actions anywhere that would mess with that layer playing. |

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Flash MX Frustration http://www.thecorridors.com/ms_dedication.html Well, I think I got Dreamweaver to fix 'most' of the problem I had with the elements not showing that were off the stage. BUT, this thing needs a preloader something fierce, and/or setting the optimization for the images to something else... it's a big file.
I don't want to degrade the music, since that's what these guys are all about, though, so I'm leaving that 'as is.'
I suck at preloaders and have failed on every try. But... I need to do something.
help? lol |

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Flash MX Frustration thanks for the kind words, Griffin. Preloaders: I really don't know how to create or insert one, though. I've tried on a couple of other projects and ended up with a t-total nightmare. |
