Rep Power: 4 | How much should I take for my work?? I am wondering what are the criterias that you charge on for a website that you made and how much.
I mean do you charge dependent on:
1. Per hour work (if yes how much ?)
2. number of pages?
3. The projects worth
4. number of kb (its size)
And I also wanted to know how much? |

Rep Power: 4 | Re: How much should I take for my work?? I do like this:
Cookie Cuter Websites (PureHTML Site) - $5
PHP Sites that are CookieStyle - $10
Simple HTML and PS - $15-20 depending on the simplicity
Totaly Macked out PS Site - $25
Simple Flash - $35
MACKED OUT FLASH SITE WITH CUSTOM DJing by me Dj Spawn - anywhere from $35-80. It depends on the complexity.
I would not recomend by the hour because you can like take forever for a cookie cutter site and get like $109238019283.
For sigs I usually make them free and other **** like photo manip or **** like that. Depending on what your skill is you can charge more and more. Because if someone sees one of your sites and is like holy **** that is a peice of **** noone else ois going to buy it. Example. My first site every was pure html on a freewebs. Those were the days.
Glad I could help.
Mr. Spawn.

Rep Power: 4 | Re: How much should I take for my work?? Thx, but from I found out alot people work by the hour...
They charge something from 15$ to 20$ an hour (offcourse they know what they are doing )
and it costs about 120$ dollars to make a mid sized personal page - 8 hours work.
small buissnes website(mostly static) that takes about week or something to complete is about 500$.
What do you think about that ? |

Rep Power: 5 | Re: How much should I take for my work?? I've charged a flat fee before---$100---if there is ONE template I use that I only need to change info on. People seem to be okay with that.
Most people---well known designers, etc.---often charge a LOT of there's script on the page, whether you write the script or not yourself or copy & paste.
If you do Flash: I don't know about movies, but sound-only Flash files most of the time go for $40/each... I've paid that much myself for flash sound files, but that was before I got Flash and began doing it myself.
Some folks charge by page: $5 per page, etc.
I think a lot of it all depends on how good you are, how involved the site will be, etc. Me, I'm not that good, so I usually charge the flat $100 for the site, and lately I throw in the flash sound file (if they even want sound) just to get some cash flow and recognition.
And... there are those out there who do a template, leave it "as is" for the customer to customize, etc. him/herself, and charge anywhere from $5 to $60.
Top-notch design----that's a bundle. I wouldn't even know where to begin. But I once did a site (haha.. porn, believe it or not) for $1500. But I doubt I'll ever do that again. Isn't my thing, and I don't want my name on it (part of the deal was not putting my name on it, but this was years ago too). But those kinds of sites you can charge a LOT more for. |

I hope you didn't take what I said as something against you, Spawn. I wouldn't do that.. I hope you know that. Besides, if I was going to pick a fight with ya, I'd make sure you knew I was! hehe Might be kinda fun sparring with the Spawn. hehe
But seriously, you do very good work and I think you charge too little. But that's just me. ((wink)) <---- can't get smileys to work. |

Rep Power: 4 | Re: How much should I take for my work?? lolol I didn't get offended. I mean I charge like that so i can get a whole bunch of clients. I think 500 dollars is too much for a business website.. I mean if your doing their text and **** for them. But if it's like a template it doesn't really matter. I guess that the more you charge ups your respect, but I am not looking for respect. I've got a whole bunch of local clients for small buisiness aswell as antec. I have just been in a cranky mood lately and I'm sorry if it offended anyone else. There's been a whole bunch of crap going on in the house. We are getting a sponser but they say that we have to have a out of home office. So we are tying to get a nice shop in the middle of Center City. It's gonna me called Spawn Studios but it is gonna be offering DJ equipment aswell as Records. But lets not get off topic shal we?

Rep Power: 10 | Re: How much should I take for my work?? Wouldnt charge any less than $1000US for a profitable business site.
Flash costs even more.
No point working your butt off for small dollars, if u can design good quality web sites and have good client communication u should charge alot more.
End of the day a business can claim 80% of it back on tax. |
