u can even use tables. You just set the background image for the cell using background="image.gif" and then add the image above using the normal IMG tag

yes griffin, but then if your tables stretch, the image repeats itself, your way is good for static tables, mines good for keeping the background on place, nomatter wich size the table has.

adding a stylesheet to the table cell, and then via CSS using the fixed image code will make it work

I used to used fixed backgrounds quite a bit, but I've sort of gotten away from that. Ever see a fixed bg with a browser that doesn't support them? Scary. lol

Sean: even with fixed cell widths and heights they might stretch---wouldn't that make things rather weird looking if that happens?

i assume it's about you saying that you can't make a table with fixed width stretch, not keeping backgrounds from repeating, cuz that can be done with the CSS code (repeat: no-repeat

so, heres the proof that you CAN make fixed widths of cells stretch

Well the arguement u just posted then is just lame, anybody trying to fit text in a fixed table 10 pixels wide shouldnt be coding web sites.

If u want to clash brains with the grifster at least post a reasonable script.
