Simple for you...not for me lol

Well, I was talking to griffin over @ vbulletin.org and thought I would bring the convo here

I want to use the Darkness style for my site www.starwarsloot.com I have been googling and googling and googling for tuts and have found quite a few as you might imagine, but all I really want to do is make a different header collage that includes, well, starwars stuff in it. I have the PSD file for the banner, and some images I want to play with but thats as far as I have gotten

If anyone has any ideas or links for me that would be greatly appreciated

Photoshop. The problem is that there are so many tutorials I have no idea which one to follow. Plus with having the PSD files already it makes it hard to figure out what step to start at in the tutorial..lol

I would start of by learning the basic tools of Photoshop, put 'learning photoshop basics' in google or search in this thread.

Re: Simple for you...not for me lol

Well, ive been playing around and I got some images in there. This is by no means the finished product but I wanted to show you guys and see if you had any ideas on where to take it. I have NO PS experience so be gentle

I want it to fade in and out all that kinda like the original, and to have some sort of same color theme as the borders around the images. I can get new images and try to keep them on somewhat of the same color i guess. I don't know any help would be awsome!

Re: Simple for you...not for me lol

Not too bad for a first attempt man, i would try and cut around the images but instead of leaving them as boxes so they all looked layered.
Will take alot of time to erase the backgrounds on some of the images but will be well worth it.

Best way would be too zoom as close as u can to the image and then using the eraser tool, erase away lol

Re: Simple for you...not for me lol

Yea, thats exactly what im trying to do right now lol. This is what im going to try to start with, then try to blend in some images some how. One problem though. I'm not sure if the way I am editing this is right. I tried to look at where to put this header on my sever. The image on the left (side1) goes one place, but when I look at the location for the top it just has an actual web address....a little confused

Re: Simple for you...not for me lol

in the PSD u would have seen fluro layers?
When u r finished u just need to CTRL Right click on these layers make 'sure they r invisible' and u will have the correct dimensions.

Remember to save the smaller fluro image which is at the bottom of the side nav as GIF file.
