blending issue?

it's the n00b again.

my wires look cartoonish. is this where I'm supposed to use blending? if so how do I blend properly? if not, any suggestions for making them look more realistic will be appreicated.

this jsut occured to me.. the tutorial I learned this from said to draw my wires with the paint brush. should I have used the pen tool or skew instead to have a cleaner look? does it make enough difference to change the cartoon look?

any other suggestions anyone might have for wires are welcome.

Re: blending issue?

sucky tutorial...

the pen tool gives you a much better wire to start with.
the blending options.. you really need to play with those as every wire needs different settings...

also play with the drop shadow to give it a more 3D-ish look.

and... don't use skew that just makes it worse

Re: blending issue?

okay, I went with the pen tool but I'm not sure I'm doing it right. It's a slight improvement but still looks choppy. if someone will please help me with these wires I'll gladly pay for the tutorial.

Re: blending issue?

now it's because of your blending options. it's best if you create them by hand... that should get rid of the choppyness,

using alpha stuff n all..

i haven't done that in years so... sorry
