Database query

Hey guys, I'm running on VBulletin software for the forum and have uploaded the original database file onto my server and the forum is going alright, but I was wondering why I didn't have 1270 odd users.

I have noticed that I have lost like over 900 users on my system but I don't know how or why. Have been unable to solve it.

However recently I managed to create a new MySql database and import the original database that I had from the beginning and it said under vb3_user that I have 1270 users.

Now the current database that I have has 173 users. I'm wondering, how can I restore the missing users?

I know it sounds bad on my part and I feel awful about it, but is there a way for me to restore that? I know how to Import a database through MySql, its not that hard but just wondering what would happen with importing the old users from the old database and put them into the current one.

And what are the steps I should take? Also including for VBulletin wise

No I haven't for Impex, because I don't really know what it is.

However when I did restore the system, I tried to update the counters though.

Re: Database query

Hey mate personally i will clean the database and start over again.

1) what size was the sql/database?
2) are u uploading the database to the same version files as u backed them up from (ex 3.6.2 or 3.6.?
3) have u tried restoring using SSH?
4) do u get any errors when restoring?

Re: Database query

With in regard to SSH, my server doesn't support it however I had my webhost provider to do that and still the same result. However there were no errors through the PhpMyAdmin utility that they use for uploading SQL databases though.

The version of VBulletin 3.6.8 was still the same as it was backed up from and is uploaded to in terms for the database wise.

The original file size was 49mb, and the current one is 47.3mb. Not much difference.

Re: Database query

Ask your host if they can restore the database using ssh, and ask them if there is any errors shown.

phpmyadmin doesnt always show all the errors

Also if your host doesnt allow you to have ssh i would seriously look for a new host
