Cwalkerz - Bandwidth Tips Please?

Sean, I notice I am using about 2.5 gigs of data per day and this is getting difficult to keep the site up if we use this much data!

Can you help me figure out what on my website is causing all of the data usage? Is it my shoutbox? I know those take data, but damn, 2.5 gigs?

Perhaps a few tips can get me on the right path towards optimizing my forum

Are u streaming music/videos from your site or allowing music/videos downloads?

If so host these files at rapidshare or another free provider.

2.5gigs per day is alot and is causing all the sites on my hosting to be slower even this site and Science Beyond Bodybuilding Anabolic Steroid Muscle Therapy Discussion Forum: MuscleSci Fitness Store

I checked out your site, Cwalkerz Music Packs - Cwalkerz: Home of the Cwalk this would be definately the cause of your troubles.

A shoutbox even used 24/7 by 100's of users would not even use 10meg per day.

Would it be the images? Are those the reasons for the usage? Because the links are on Filefront, not on the site.

The header image is over 500kb each, so 2 visits will be 1meg, this could be a problem also.

So far you have used 8.24 Gig which is 22% of your monthly bandwidth,your going to need to go through your account and find out what is using your bandwidth

Thank you so much Sean. I converted to .JPG and it reduced it 10X to 50kb. That was the problem! Thank you again. This solves the bandwidth issue But that shoutbox takes a lot too, do you think its a problem?

The shoutbox i would leave alone for now, just test the bandwidth without the more compressed version of the header. If by the end of the month you see the shoutbox wasting bandwidth disable it until the next month.

This is what i used to do with my old hosting and the hosting of my clans files.
