Re: How do you guys handle ecommerce?

Can it be implemented in a current design, or is it it's own web/storefront?

Re: How do you guys handle ecommerce?

With good knowledge of PHP and HTML it can be.

But its pretty much a template based system, like forums and portals

Re: How do you guys handle ecommerce?

Here is what you can do...

Client work...

Local Work -- People want to know what you can do and if they can trust you. Let them see what you have to offer, by linking them to your web site or showing them in person your portfolio. Gain there trust, be nice andl et them know they will get what they want. You have to earn your clients work so you cant charge alot starting out. Once you gain a larger Active Portfolio more and more people will see that they can Trust you.

For local work id recommend Cash(half now, half when done) or Checks made out to you. Or even paypal if they know what it is.

Online work -- Stick with Paypal or another MAJOR online banking system. Again you cant start out to high. And once again, half before you start and half when you are done.

Now if you are trying to sell single templates online, try a website called Payloads ( www.payloads.com ) very nice site that links to your paypal. You will upload your design to there site.Once they get confirm you have been payed through paypal, the site will then send them a link in there email or via the web to a site where your design can be downloads. It has many other options as well.

I hope that helps out man. Need anything else, just let me know or email me

Re: How do you guys handle ecommerce?

Fantastico offers a couple of shopping carts, but I don't know which one to use or how to integrate it to work with the business subdomain. Also, I'm not sure exactly how to skin the thing or change the graphics so it looks like part of the site.

http://www.collide.net (for example) has a shopping area on their site, and when you click on something to purchase it directs you to the shopping cart. It's easy to see it's part of a shopping cart setup, but the graphics are changed to make it look like part of the site.
