some games and some software are supported via WINE or Cedega, or Crossover-office
Those are emulators, cedega is made pure for games, WINE is the original emulator where all the other emulators are based on, and crossover is a bit all-round. |

Rep Power: 4 | Re: Vista Launched So, back on topic, what is my opinion of Vista? It's a little skit that goes like this:
Bill Gates: I made a new operating system.
Sohlside: Really? Can I see it?
Bill Gates: Not yet. Give me a few days to finish it up.
Sohlside: *waits 3 years*
Bill Gates: Here it is.
Sohlside: Cool skin for Linux/OSX.
Bill Gates: It's not a skin.
Sohlside:Yes it is.
Bill Gates: No it isn't. It's a operating system I made.
Sohlside: You made it?
Bill Gates: Well, I paid some guys to make it for me.
Sohlside: *laughs* That's great Bill. I gotta go. Big LAN party at Josh's house.
Bill Gates: Can I come?
Sohlside: No. Linux will eb there and he knows you've been ripping off his stuff.
Bill Gates: *cries* No one likes me. I'm going to sell crappy software to India!

and they took most new features out of OSX, and so did linux for part of it, but that's mostly 3rd party software, and non-commercial.
(looks at Beryl & XGL & stuff like that) |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: Vista Launched I have installed Vista on 2 computers in the last week, one install went good and works fine, but the 2nd pc a Hewlett Packard Bell - i had to update the bios before updating to vista cause the installation would crash half way through.
The new operating system is nothing special at all, a few good features i must admit but mostly GUI updates. If your pc is more than 3 years old u will have trouble with all the fancy GUI taking your system resources.
Personally im going to stick with XP until the end of the year or at least until service pack 1 is released. |
