Yes another gaming site.
I threw together a gaming site just prior to Christmas over a weekend. Over the next week I worked some more on it added a forum and then the gallery. Anyone want to give some constructive criticism on how to make this a much better site. I wanted to create a flash banner at the top but I don't know what to use for software. By the way the website is running on a iMAC 24".

It is pretty plain. Nothing about it stands out. I would try adding maybe more color, or a different layout style in general.

Yes the website is [AAO] Allied Assault Officers - Welcome to THEAAOCLAN and I find it to be bland as well. The colors are dark and there is not a part of the site that really stands out. I used CMS Made Simple and one of their themes but I really wanted to go with a military COD4 theme. Just not sure how to go about it yet. I will checking some of the forums on this site as I am sure there will be some great sites and suggestions.

Any suggestions to banner software for a MAC?

Start with the background. You need a theme to the site, maybe like a design that looks war-torn or something.

Number of things you can do are to try your self by learning, or hire a designer to do it for you.

I have photoshop 4.0 for MAC and I am experimenting with it and looking at other sites for ideas as well. I got a book on php and I use CODA for editing CSS and php. Only way to learn is to try, right!

Yes it is.

Im not 100% percent what it is you wish to do with the site, but try and keep it simple. You already have the forum and the photo gallery so why not keep the main site simple.

Stick with XHTML and CSS for now. Find a desired look you are trying to achieve and stick with it. It is going to take some time for you to get it right but that is what learning is all about.
